DESCRIPTION:Title: Nonlinear motion control.\n\nAbstract: Traditionally\,
  high-tech motion systems are controlled by PID-control\, despite the fact
  that these PID designs\, or more generally speaking any linear time-invar
 iant control design\, is subject to fundamental performance limitations. I
 t was already observed in the 1950’s that introducing reset and switchin
 g mechanisms in an otherwise linear control loop can alleviate these limit
 ations and significantly improve system performance. Unfortunately\, perfo
 rmance improvements with nonlinear control come at the cost of increased c
 omplexity in analysis and design. In this talk\, I will highlight recent a
 dvancements in nonlinear motion control. In particular I will discuss the 
 development of graphical tools including scaled graphs for analysis and de
 sign. I will also discuss continuing challenges and on-going and future re
 search that expedites the use of nonlinear control as an enabler to push p
 erformance of high-tech systems to the next level.\n\nShort bio: Sebastia
 an van den Eijnden received the Ph.D. degree from the Eindhoven University
  of Technology (TU/e) in 2022. From 2021–2023\, he has been working as a
  mechatronics and control engineer at ASML\, the Netherlands. Currently\, 
 Sebastiaan is an Assistant Professor at the department of Mechanical Engin
 eering\, TU/e. His research interests include nonlinear and hybrid systems
 \, input-output stability theory\, robust control\, graphical methods for 
 nonlinear control system analysis and design\, as well as data-based and l
 earning control for mechatronic systems.\n\nTeams (cliquer ici).
