SUMMARY:ReunionMODEL- Seminaire Giuseppe Notarstefano
DESCRIPTION:Titre : System theory tools for optimization and learning in co
mplex and distributed systems\n\n- Résumé : In this talk I will address
control and learning scenarios requiring the online solution of (possibly
distributed) optimization problems. I will first highlight some key challe
nges arising in addressing these problems as\, e.g.\, online and closed-lo
op nature of the learning strategy\, structure of the required policy\, la
rge-scale nature\, local communication requirements. Then I will show how
system theory tools can be used to design and analyze solution strategies
and gain insights on the algorithm performance properties. Energy and robo
tic systems are key sources of concrete scenarios in which these challenge
s arise. Applications to these key domains will be shown along with future
perspectives.\n\n- Biographie : Giuseppe Notarstefano is a Professor in t
he Department of Electrical\, Electronic\, and Information Engineering G.
Marconi at Alma Mater Studiorum Università di Bologna. He was Associate P
rofessor (June ‘16 – June ‘18) and previously Assistant Professor\,
Ricercatore\, (from Feb ‘07) at the Università del Salento\, Lecce\, It
aly. He received the Laurea degree “summa cum laude” in Electronics En
gineering from the Università di Pisa in 2003 and the Ph.D. degree in Aut
omation and Operation Research from the Università di Padova in 2007. He
has been visiting scholar at the University of Stuttgart\, University of C
alifornia Santa Barbara and University of Colorado Boulder. His research i
nterests include distributed optimization\, cooperative control in complex
networks\, applied nonlinear optimal control\, and trajectory optimizatio
n and maneuvering of aerial and car vehicles.\nHe has served as an Associa
te Editor for IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control\, IEEE Transactions o
n Control Systems Technology and IEEE Control Systems Letters. He has been
part of the Conference Editorial Board of IEEE Control Systems Society an
d EUCA. He was a recipient of an ERC Starting Grant 2014.\nTeams (cliquer
