 , Belgium)\nAbstract: In the manufacturing industry\, the state of the cu
 tting tool is of crucial importance. During machining\, the tool inevitabl
 y degrades leading to production of suboptimal parts. The degradation of t
 he tool is due to different mechanisms occurring simultaneously thus predi
 cting in advance the evolution of the degradation of the tool is impossibl
 e. Therefore\, we propose to monitor in real time the degradation of the c
 utting tool with artificial intelligence (AI) by instrumentalizing the mac
 hine with different sensors. The sensors signals are processed by AI to es
 timate the state of the tool and lead to its replacement at the optimal ti
