Description:
Project Context:
Building renovation is a major challenge in achieving carbon reduction targets, especially in France, where the
building stock is aging. The industrialization of renovation processes through modular and off-site solutions,
such as prefabricated façade insulation panels, accelerates transformation while minimizing on-site
disruptions.

However, these approaches require advanced planning and efficient synchronization of logistics and
operational flows. BIM 4D, combined with Digital Twins, enhances coordination between off-site
manufacturing and on-site installation by integrating the time dimension into digital models for optimized
process simulation.

This postdoctoral project is part of the BYWall program, funded by ADEME, and aims to develop advanced
methodologies for managing and optimizing renovation projects using BIM 4D technology.

Objectives of the Project:

Integrate BIM 4D into renovation project management to optimize operational planning and reduce scheduling
risks.
Develop simulation models based on Digital Twins to represent logistics flows and interactions between on-site
teams and off-site manufacturing units.
Improve real-time construction site monitoring by integrating tracking technologies (IoT sensors, drones,
reality capture).
Propose Lean-BIM methodologies for planning and execution, leveraging best practices from the construction
industry.
Automate schedule and resource optimization using advanced algorithms (machine learning, dynamic
simulation).
Test and validate developed models in real-life pilot projects within the BYWall consortium.

Required Skills:

Expertise in BIM 4D and related tools (Navisworks, Synchro Pro, AnyLogic).
Knowledge of Lean Construction methodologies and Takt Time planning.
Experience in construction process modeling and simulation.
Skills in developing Digital Twins for construction site management.
Ability to integrate real-time data flows into BIM models.
Strong interdisciplinary collaboration skills (working with engineers, architects, and supply chain specialists).
Proven track record of publishing in international scientific journals.
