BioSiS - Liquid biopsies and therapeutic optimization (BLOT)

Project Overview

This project aims to optimize the diagnosis and treatment of cancers, especially those with poor prognosis such as pancreatic cancer and triple negative breast cancer, through two challenges. On the one hand, the detection of circulating tumor DNA, genetic material released by the tumor during necrosis, apoptosis or active cellular phenomena, is considered for early detection applications, theranostics, patient monitoring, evaluation of the quality of a surgical procedure or early detection of relapse in cancer patients (Important research axis of the Lorraine Cancer Institute). On the other hand, through a strong consortium of collaborations combining molecular modeling, synthetic chemistry and biology, the project is bringing out original compounds targeting in particular nucleic acids DNA/RNA. The characterization of their anticancer effects on tumor cells and on the associated immune system allows us to imagine/propose new innovative therapeutic approaches. The detection of nucleic acids, their molecular anomalies and their targeting for diagnostic or therapeutic applications are major challenges in oncology.
