Optimal control under saturation and energy constraints for heat pumps
Department : CID

Durée : 16/03/2026 - 28/02/2027

Description
In this project, a mathematical model of the heat pump system is already available. This model incorporates switching dynamics, reflecting the complex interactions between system components under different operating modes. Controlling such systems presents a significant challenge, particularly in adapting to diverse user profiles and varying environmental conditions. To ensure user comfort, the heat pump must be able to guarantee domestic hot water production over a given time period under control saturation constraints and with minimal energy consumption. Integrating recent advances in control theory offers new perspectives for improving the overall efficiency and adaptability of the system in real-world situations.

Objectives The objectives of this postdoctoral research are as follows:
⬢ Design an optimal control law for a given finite period under saturation and overall energy consumption constraints.
⬢ Test this control law for maintaining a known consumption profile.
