Title:
Neuropsychological assessment of face recognition in patients with drug-resistant epilepsy
Dates:
2022/01/10 - 2022/03/07
Description:
Little is known about the performance of face recognition in patients with drug-resistant temporal epilepsy,
despite the fact that their epilepsy affects part of the facial network, the anterior temporal cortex. During this
internship, we envision the creation of a battery of neuropsychological tests specifically dedicated to the
assessment of face recognition in patients with epilepsy using both unfamiliar and famous faces. This battery of
tests will also be used during electrical stimulation in SEEG to identify critical areas of the brain for face
recognition. This study will make it possible to better predict the cognitive outcome in recognition after surgery, to
better locate the functional areas for vision that will eventually be spared during surgery and to improve the
quality of life of patients with epilepsy.
